Iron Mountain MUM-2 is a purpose-built hyperscale data center in Mumbai meeting surging demand for AI-ready infrastructure in India's digital capital. This 120,000-square-feet facility delivers 6.3 MW across 4 data halls designed for high-density compute. Built to Uptime Tier III standards with N+1 DG sets and N+2 chilled-water cooling, MUM-2 operates on the same 5.5-acre campus as MUM-1 and connects to Mumbai's richest interconnection ecosystem, with nine carriers, all major cloud providers, 200+ ISPs, and four Internet Exchanges (DE-CIX, AMS-IX, Extreme IX, NIXI). Express feeder connectivity, diverse power paths, and comprehensive compliance (ISO, SOC, PCI-DSS) deliver enterprise-grade reliability for hyperscale deployments in India's fastest-growing data center market.
Leading organizations across India and globally choose Iron Mountain's Mumbai campus for mission-critical hyperscale infrastructure. MUM-2 joins MUM-1 and MUM-3 to create India's most comprehensive carrier-neutral hyperscale environment with campus access to all major cloud providers and 200+ ISPs. With operations spanning Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai, Iron Mountain delivers the pan-Indian footprint and consistent global standards needed to support distributed AI workloads, cloud deployments, and hyperscale infrastructure across India's fastest-growing technology markets.
Become a Customer TodayOur India data center, MUM-2, launched in 2023 specifically designed for AI workloads and high-density compute applications. The 120,000-square-feet facility delivers 6.3 MW across 1,072 racks in 4 dedicated data halls, supporting high power densities with chilled-water cooling in an N+2 configuration. Unlike retrofitted facilities, MUM-2's ground-up design accommodates demanding computational requirements from day one. The facility provides immediate access to the mature interconnection ecosystem established at adjacent MUM-1, including 9 on-site carriers, 200+ ISPs, 4 Internet Exchanges (DE-CIX, AMS-IX, Extreme IX, NIXI), and direct cloud connectivity to AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle.
Our Mumbai data center is purpose-built and specifically addresses AI and machine learning infrastructure requirements that are often difficult to implement in traditional data centers. The facility supports high-density power configurations, accommodating GPU-dense servers for model training, inference, and large-scale data processing. Chilled-water-based cooling in N+2 configuration maintains optimal operating temperatures under sustained computational loads that would overwhelm air-cooling systems. For MUM-2 colocation the 4-data-hall design enables organizations to segregate training environments from production inference infrastructure while maintaining unified campus operations. Over 200 ISPs provide the high-bandwidth connectivity required for large dataset transfers. Organizations can deploy complete AI infrastructure stacks—from data ingestion through model training to inference deployment—within MUM-2's integrated environment rather than distributing components across multiple facilities.
MUM-2, our data center in Mumbai, supports a range of deployment models, from single-rack to multi-megawatt hyperscale builds. Colocation cabinet deployments enable organizations to establish a presence in Mumbai with minimal initial commitment. Dedicated cages, ranging from 1 to 50+ racks, provide isolated infrastructure for department-level deployments or regional headquarters. Custom suites deliver private data center environments with customer-controlled access, dedicated infrastructure, and isolated power and cooling systems—ideal for regulated industries or strategic applications. The phased build-out model of our Mumbai data center enables rapid initial deployment while preserving expansion capacity as requirements grow. Organizations operating in both MUM-1 and MUM-2 can maintain unified operations across the campus while achieving infrastructure diversity. Redundant fiber between facilities supports active-active architectures, disaster recovery configurations, or workload segregation based on regulatory requirements.
MUM-2 forms the centerpiece of Iron Mountain's comprehensive India strategy spanning major metropolitan markets. The facility's 6.3 MW capacity complements MUM-1's 2.5 MW and the planned MUM-3's 85 MW in the same Navi Mumbai region, creating a unified 93+ MW Mumbai hub. Customers can seamlessly extend infrastructure across NCR-1 & 2 in Noida (14.8 MW), PUN-1 in Pune (1.6 MW), BLR-1 in Bengaluru (4.1 MW), HYD-1 in Hyderabad (5.7 MW), and Chennai facilities CHN-1 and CHN-2 (48 MW combined) to build distributed architectures serving India's major business centers. MUM-2 delivers 6.3 MW of IT load capacity with N+1 DG sets and express feeder connectivity, ensuring resilient power delivery. The facility's chilled-water-based cooling system operates in N+2 configuration, providing superior thermal management for both standard and high-density workloads. The 1,072-rack capacity is distributed across 4 dedicated data halls, enabling workload segregation by type, security requirements, or business unit. Uptime Tier III standards validate concurrent maintainability—systems can be serviced without impacting operations.
MUM-2’s comprehensive certifications enable immediate production deployments for regulated industries. The MUM-2 colocation facility is built to Uptime Tier III standards and maintains compliance with SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3, PCI-DSS, and TIA-942-B. ISO certifications include ISO 27001 (information security), ISO 20000-1 (IT service management), ISO 22301 (business continuity) and ISO 9001 (quality management).
