Iron Mountain Data Centers has introduced a forward-thinking strategic framework titled Towards 2050: Singapore's Digital Industrial Future to reimagine industrial infrastructure on Jurong Island. Developed in collaboration with the advisory firm Baringa, the paper addresses the global shortage of energized land by proposing a model that fuses traditional industrial footprint with data infrastructure.

The plan outlines three critical shifts, including a 30 billion dollar circular economy focused on asset lifecycle management, low-carbon energy transitions, and the co-location of energy recovery systems directly with data facilities to manage high-density cloud and artificial intelligence workloads.

"Digital infrastructure is running into hard constraints, with energized land and escalating trust requirements redefining what viable infrastructure looks like," said Michael Goh, Vice President and General Manager for EMEA and APAC at Iron Mountain Data Centers. "Jurong Island is different because it solves these challenges. By building smart tech into a secure, circular foundation, there is an opportunity to create a platform that stays reliable and relevant no matter how fast technology changes."
