Singapore is set to transform Jurong Island into an advanced, AI-ready data center hub to tackle acute compute and land constraints. According to a joint report by government agencies and industry participants, the strategy outlines plans to overhaul the island's industrial space into a highly secure digital foundation capable of supporting dense artificial intelligence workloads.

The transition centers on establishing a low-carbon, circular economy that integrates energy recovery systems alongside next-generation digital architecture. The project treats land, energy, carbon and data as a single design space, fundamentally shifting from isolated data center builds to deeply integrated, industrial-scale ecosystems.

"Digital infrastructure is running into hard constraints, with energized land and escalating trust requirements redefining what viable infrastructure looks like," said Michael Goh, Vice President and General Manager for EMEA and APAC at Iron Mountain Data Centers. "Jurong Island is different because it solves these challenges."
